Beautiful estate 9ct gold ring with the intial letter of each stone spelling the term of endearment DEAREST i.e. D-diamond, E-emerald, A-amethyst, R-ruby, E-emerald, S-sapphire and T-tourmaline. The ring is size K or 5 1/4. The ring is in excellent condition with very minor abrasions to some facet edges, these are only visible using a jewellers lens. Throughout history the ring has remained the most enduring and significant of all love tokens because its unbroken circle signifies eternal regard and commitment. Jeweller's began arranging coloured gemstones, using the initial letters of each stone to spell terms of endearment in the late eighteenth century. Other common stones used are R-ruby, E-emerald, G-garnet, A-amethyst, R-ruby, D-diamond for REGARD or L-lapis lazuli, O-opal, V-vermeil, E-emerald for LOVE. |
