Beautiful French Art Nouveau citrine necklace with three delicate foliate panels, the central panel holds three citirine briolette drops. The necklace has a French hallmark and the markers mark 'M.P.'. It is 46cm (18 inches) long and in very good condition with only light wear commensurate with age and use. The citrines are not chipped and there are no signs of damage or repair to the foliate panels. The fine silver chain is also undamaged and has a secure bolt-ring clasp. The briolette cut has been popular since the 17th century because it displays the colour of a gemstone so effectively and reflects light off the facets from every angle. The briolette is most commonly used in pendants and earrings because of its ability to catch the light and display more of the gem than any other cut. |
