Beautiful early 19th century flat cut garnet brooch mounted in silver with gold metal (untested) backing. The brooch is designed as an eight rayed star in a closed-back setting. This type of setting was widely used during the Georgian era and through to the early Victorian era.
The brooch is in wonderful condition, with only very slight abrasions to the garnet faces, as would be expected with a piece of this age. The pin is secure and in good condition. The brooch measures 5cm (2 in) by 5cm (2 in) and is not hallmarked.
