Antique Australian Southern Cross Bar Brooch

Very collectable antique 9ct gold bar brooch incorporating a map of Australia (minus the states of Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory) and the stars of the Southern Cross. 

The map is divided into five States and is engraved with the word Australia. Five lovely light green sapphires have been used as the stars of the Southern Cross.

The brooch is hallmarked 9ct and is in good condition with light wear commensurate with age and use.  It measures 3.5cm (1.4 inches) in width and 2.5cm (1 inch) in height.

The clasp is secure, but is a little difficult to open and close.
